• What is Gmail Alerts?

Gmail Alerts is an iPhone application that gives you full push email for all your Gmail accounts.

Download it from the iTunes App Store, add an account to the application and then setup your email to forward to gmail@push2iphone.com.

  • Why do I need to forward my email?

In order for us to let you know when you receive a new email to your account we first need to know when you receive one. By setting up forwarding a copy of every email you receive will also be sent to the push2iphone mail servers.

When one of these copies reaches our server it will send your iPhone a message to let you know you've got mail.

  • How do I setup email forwarding?

The best explanation of how to complete your account configuration and forward your mail to push2iphone is provided by Google.

You need to specify gmail@push2iphone.com as the address to forward to. Also make sure that you choose to "keep Gmail's copy of the message in your inbox" otherwise your email will get deleted!

  • How much does it cost?

Gmail Alerts is available from the iTunes App Store for $0.99 (or equivalent in your local currency). This includes a 30 day subscription for push notifications for any new account that you add.

To continue receiving push notifications for your Gmail you must maintain a subscription. Subscription packages can be purchased from within the app at any time and cost $0.99 per month (30 days).

  • Why do I need to pay a subscription?

The server infrastructure that supports Gmail Alerts has an ongoing cost associated with it. In order to maintain this infrastructure and offer our customers the best possible experience we have made Gmail Alerts available using a subscription model.

By having a subscription for Gmail Alerts you can be assured of an continued, high-quality service moving forward.

  • Why do you need my password?

Your password is required for two reasons. The first, and most important, is that we need to know you "own" a Gmail account. Once you have successfully logged into your account through Gmail Alerts we have that confirmation and so will send notifications of new emails for that account to your iPhone. Your password is only used for this purpose and is never sent to our servers.

The second reason is to allow Gmail's inbox to work in the app.

  • How many accounts can I use?

Gmail Alerts does not limit the number of accounts you receive push alerts for. You will however require a subscription for every account you want to use with Gmail Alerts.

  • How secure is my email?

Every effort has been taken to make sure your email is secure as possible.

As mentioned above, some level of access to your email is required in order to alert you of new messages. By only requiring you to forward your messages to our servers we introduce the fewest possible security issues and give you, the user, the most control.

Your emails are never stored on our servers. They are processed as they are received, a push notification is sent to your phone and the message is discarded.

Because we don't need or use your password after the initial authentication check, you can change you password at anytime and Gmail Alerts will keep working. By giving your password to a third party you open yourself up to a huge number of security problems - none of these are an issue with Gmail Alerts because we don't hold your password.
